Stressed Out Like No One's Bidness!
Yasmeen knows how to plan an event on very little. Because my friend Julia is getting married in February she's up to her eyeballs in wedding, wedding, wedding. If you ever have to plan a wedding on short notice especially if you have no experience what so ever like me...it can be done! I'm also learning quick that this bad economy is a huge advantage with something like this! So keep that in mind if you want to plan a wedding. In this economy people have services and things to sell and will drop their prices to get your business. Most importantly...be open minded and creative!
My fiance and I were planning to get'er done by our Pastor in a casual ceremony with only a few people then maybe go out to eat afterward. That idea didn't go down smoothly with others so now we're doing this as formal as possible considering the time we have
Yasmeen got us a restaurant banquet room for a small reception on a Friday night (hey when you're doing short notice you won't come close to a Saturday anywhere for at least 6 months). They'll also take care of the food. This place has their own DJ but Sharb's cousin has a friend who's a DJ and he agreed to do it for a lot cheaper then the "house" DJ. Good enough! Julia and her mom designed the invitations on a computer themselves which saved tons of money and time and we got them filled out last night, stamped and in the mail this morning. I thought to do a Facebook event invite for some people but apparently that's ghetto haha!
Since it won't be just a few people and casual our church can't do it because it's in the process of moving. Our Pastor can do it but not there. So now we're getting married at Sharb's dad's church which is cool with me. Really just tell me where I need to be and I'll show up! This has been one of the worst parts. For a few days it looked like we may get married one day and have the reception another day. How weird would that be? We actually got the banquet room before nailing down the church and that is what set our wedding date haha. Since it's a Friday it went easier. I'm not complaining
I don't have time to have a gown made and fittings and all that crap so I have to buy one. We've been looking and I haven't found one yet I really like but I'm hopeful. Here's the cool part...a friend of my dad called from Boston after hearing from him I was getting married. She's a species all unto herself lol. She called to talk me out of it, yelled at me a couple of times, swore a few times (she thinks I'm too young) but in the end she offered to buy my gown as a gift so she sent a check since she won't be able to make it. Woohoo! Thanks Tracy! Tuxedo's have been causing us the most problems but if all else fails then black suits will work just fine. Just gotta be flexible
You can buy a cake at a bakery as we are as long as you keep the design simple you'll save time and money. My bridesmaids are wearing plain black dresses with white shawls (shawls from JC Penny 20.00 each). None of the dresses even match but they are the same length and with the shawls it's very nice. My friends Rachel and Kelly are decorating the collars of each dress with small rhinestones so they at least look very similar and pretty
Flowers....fake! Every last one of them and bought at Micheal's on discount along with tons of ribbon. Beads and other small accessories can be bought at dollar stores, Walmart, Meijer just about anywhere. Now we have to come up with a design for the tables and church. Decorating is a little challenging but we're getting table cloths cheap at Jo-Ann Fabrics and cut there with decorative scissors so no sewing is involved. My friend Eve's mom is going to make my bouquet but Micheal's also does it. Hair...makeup? Fuhgetaboutit! Do your own or have a friend do it for you. I'm leaving my hair down and my friend Rachel is going to add tiny pearls throughout. It's way cute and you can buy a bead hook anywhere for about 10 bucks. The only thing we'll get done for us is nails, eyebrows and waxing but that can be done anywhere a couple of days before on everyone's own time
I realize it's still early to call this a success but it's getting done and even if every detail doesn't come together I have to be ok with that. A wedding on short notice or not...whether you wanted a big wedding or not suddenly becomes an obsession! My biggest worry is people showing up on short notice lol. Work with what you got and don't lose it like I am. Tonight is "centerpiece" night lol

This is how we are forced to accept something we would normally chase out of town with pitchforks and torches. They edit it like crazy, make us think it's actually an awesome life for these women, they feed it to us for years, then someone in Congress gets a publisher to print school books about David's daddy, 52 mommies and 210 siblings aimed at 5 year olds. Now we gotta deal with Gomez Addams and his four brainwashed wives
This guy has been "courting" another wife on the show...a 4th wife while one of his other wives (the one in black) is pregnant. All through her pregnancy he's been driving for hours to be with another woman who he'll marry in the season finale. I cannot believe someone hasn't hit him over the head with a frying pan. 3 women in 1 house...there's gotta be plenty of pans. One episode, he took 2 of his older daughters with him saying he was doing it to spend time with them and how he loved hanging out with them, etc. Then about a minute later the real reason fell out...they were gonna baby sit wife # 4's kids while they went out.
Has anyone else figured out what this show is really about? Not only does Kody Brown have a side business called "Kody Brown Family Entertainment", but this is really about a guy that has found a way through "religion" to get his thrills on anything that's female and stands still for 5 seconds by "marrying" them.
Except the Utah County Sheriff doesn't think he's so awesome. They're investigating him for bigamy and wanting to know how this family makes their money, namely Kody, and how's he's able to support 4 wives and 16 kids.
"Well, King David had many wives and so did Solomon" someone may say. God never, not once, ever, condoned having more than one wife. In fact, He warned against it and called it adultery. King David, Solomon and others who practiced polygamy are examples of the horrendous problems it causes. Judas hanged himself, King Saul killed himself with his sword, Cain killed his brother. Does that mean God allows this too because it's in the Bible? It may have been in the Bible, but it doesn't mean it's there as an example to follow, but rather an example of "what not to do".

It's A Matter Of Conscience
WHO CARES?! Right?
But there are many people who convert to Christianity from Judaism and Islam who wonder if they should eat pork. The answer...if you don't want to then don't. It's not a sin to continue avoiding pork. But it you want to try it then you're allowed and not sinning
This is a hefty subject but I'll try to summarize it the best I can. This issue is obviously bigger then pork otherwise I wouldn't write about it. I'm too lazy. The fact that you're reading this with proper capitalization is me going the extra mile. Just saying...
When a person comes from a religion based on law there's a whole slew of things they struggle with in themselves when coming to Christianity. Christians are not under Law but under grace (Romans 6:14) for explanation go HERE
A Middle East convert will obviously have a different world view then an American convert. A world view is based on a number of things including language, surroundings, family, religion, culture, geographical location etc. The one who converts from Islam or Judaism or even new Western Christians are going to have a strong opinion on the eating of pork or alcohol or tattoos or ritual cleansing or prescribed prayers etc. When they come into contact with a Christian from the West or even one from the same area who has matured in the faith they may be offended at the "freedom" of another and even accuse them of being in sin for exercising their freedom
Romans 14:1-4 "Accept him whose faith is weak, without passing judgment on disputable matters. One man's faith allows him to eat everything, but another man, whose faith is weak, eats only vegetables. The man who eats everything must not look down on him who does not, and the man who does not eat everything must not condemn the man who does, for God has accepted him. Who are you to judge someone else's servant? To his own master he stands or falls. And he will stand, for the Lord is able to make him stand."
There are a lot of things that are disputable matters among Christians. In Christ God has accepted people from all walks of life, from all world views, from all social climates. Before Christ God set down Laws and regulations the people had to obey to keep themselves separate from all the surrounding peoples and cultures. Gentiles were not allowed anywhere near God at His own command. But when Christ came God began taking in the Gentiles en mass and didn't insist they conform to Judaic rituals. Instead he wanted the Jews to accept the Gentiles as they were. The point in all of it was that though the Law is good it had served it purpose to point out
1. The Law couldn't save anyone
2. Man was not capable of keeping the Law because even breaking just one made that person a Law breaker
3. The high standards God enforced to be in a relationship with Him
4. The sin in man and his miserable state
5. Even keeping Laws was not enough to get a man into Heaven because even a person's most righteous deeds were as filthy rags in God's sight (Isaiah 64:6)
It's interesting to note that the Hebrew for "filthy rags" describes a women's menstrual cloth. Even you mose obedient acts is like offering God a used up tampon. Ya I know...
Christ fulfilled the entire Law by living a perfectly obedient life in word, thought and deed. This made Him the perfect sacrifice for man's sins. So no longer is man dependent on their own righteousness to get them into Heaven (something they couldn't reach anyway) but they now rested and fully relied on Christ and His righteousness to get them into Heaven
This caused a lot of problems in the early church. Jews were demanding Gentiles at least be circumsized and abstain from certain foods (Acts 15). By the first century most of the church was made up of Gentiles who had no idea about being circumsized, not eating pork, celebrating certain days etc
Some Christians with backgrounds in Judaism may continue to celebrate Passover. They're not sinning. It's a matter of conscience for them. If they were told they couldn't celebrate it anymore they would feel as if they were sinning and hurt their conscience. Some Christians from Islam may insist on removing their shoes before prayer and using a prayer rug. That's ok! They're not sinning! The conscience is God's early warning system, a God given standard we are to live by written on our hearts by God Himself and it must remain sensitive. When the conscience becomes dull from frequently ignoring it in situations we become hardened and frankly are capable of anything
We are to make sure we keep our consciences clear (Acts 24:16) and not dulled down. So if we engage in things that really isn't sin at all but it bothers us to do them then we are obligated to follow the conscience to keep it sensitive and clear
For example...the Bible never says drinking alcohol is a sin. When it becomes a sin is when it's done in excess or to the point that we lose control (Ephesians 5:18) but the occasional drink is not a sin. An occasional glass of wine actually has a lot of medical benefits for the body. There are Christians though that will not touch alcohol and believe it's a sin. Those of us who are more mature in the faith are not to look down on them for having a weaker faith and they are not to look down on us for drinking once in a while
Not eating pork for me comes from Jewish upbringing. As a Christian I still won't eat it but I don't look down on anyone who does and they shouldn't look down on me for not. Sharb doesn't eat pork either which comes from his Muslim background. We're allowed if we want to but since it would bother our consciences to eat it...we stay away. We know that not eating pork doesn't bring us any closer to God just as celebrating certain holidays, dressing a certain way etc doesn't either, it's just our preference
Tattoos are and cutting the body (like with piercings) is forbidden in the Leviticus. The purpose was to keep Israel separate from all the other nations this was common in. If it doesn't bother one's conscience to get a tattoo then it's not a sin. Some Christians won't celebrate Halloween because of it's origins and even Christmas and Easter. That's fine too and not a sin. There are other Christians that have no problem celebrating these holidays and their not sinning either. If we're going to pull out Laws in the OT to live by then we also have to be prepared to follow all of the Law. And if we follow all of the Law as a hope for getting us into Heaven then we're not following Christ
"One man considers one day more sacred than another; another man considers every day alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind. He who regards one day as special, does so to the Lord. He who eats meat, eats to the Lord, for he gives thanks to God; and he who abstains, does so to the Lord and gives thanks to God." Romans 14:5-6
BUT...and here's where it gets a little sticky...if my freedom in Christ offends a brother/sister then I am sinning by continuing.
"Therefore let us stop passing judgment on one another. Instead, make up your mind not to put any stumbling block or obstacle in your brother's way. As one who is in the Lord Jesus, I am fully convinced that no food is unclean in itself. But if anyone regards something as unclean, then for him it is unclean. If your brother is distressed because of what you eat, you are no longer acting in love. Do not by your eating destroy your brother for whom Christ died. Do not allow what you consider good to be spoken of as evil. For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit, because anyone who serves Christ in this way is pleasing to God and approved by men.
Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification. Do not destroy the work of God for the sake of food. All food is clean, but it is wrong for a man to eat anything that causes someone else to stumble. It is better not to eat meat or drink wine or to do anything else that will cause your brother to fall
So whatever you believe about these things keep between yourself and God. Blessed is the man who does not condemn himself by what he approves. But the man who has doubts is condemned if he eats, because his eating is not from faith; and everything that does not come from faith is sin." Romans 14:13-23
If Sharb suddenly decides to eat pork and it offends me and he knows it then he is sinning if he does it anyway. If I know celebrating Halloween will offend other Christians who will be exposed to my celebration then I'm sinning. Get it? It will make them stumble and hurt their conscience...
"Be careful, however, that the exercise of your freedom does not become a stumbling block to the weak. For if anyone with a weak conscience sees you who have this knowledge eating in an idol's temple, won't he be emboldened to eat what has been sacrificed to idols? So this weak brother, for whom Christ died, is destroyed by your knowledge. When you sin against your brothers in this way and wound their weak conscience, you sin against Christ. Therefore, if what I eat causes my brother to fall into sin, I will never eat meat again, so that I will not cause him to fall." 1 Corinthians 8:9-13
We are to think of others better than ourselves. If anything I do causes another to stumble I am to stop immediately. It doesn't bother me but it bothers them
Some things are not open to conscience. Some things are just forbidden...
1 Corinthians 6:9-10 "Don't fool yourselves. Those who indulge in sexual sin, or who worship idols, or commit adultery, or are male prostitutes, or practice homosexuality, nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God."
Galatians 5:19 "The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions, and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God"
But some things are a matter of conscience and covered under the freedom in Christ we have. We're not sinning if we do them and we're not sinning if we don't. AS a person matures in the faith they will find things change for them. Maybe they won't ever eat pork but they won't worry or be offended by someone else who does. Like Jesus said "What goes into a man's mouth does not make him 'unclean,' but what comes out of his mouth, that is what makes him 'unclean.'" Matthew 15:11
Abstaining or not from things will not change anything for you before God. It's the heart God's concerned with. If you profess Christ and yet you still practice witchcraft, sleep around, hanging at bars or getting drunk, committing idolatry etc, there's a huge issue in your heart that hasn't been corrected. Those things are just plain evil and reflect a serious "heart condition" before God and they're just not open to debate

Thursday it was reported, on the local Detroit news, that a couple in Trenton Michigan have been taunting their neighbor, a 7 year old little girl who is dying of Huntington's disease. The little girl's mother died of the same disease when she was only 24. Apparently the harassing has been going on for 2 years. Reportedly, Jennifer Lynn Petkov would stop in front of the little girl's house if she was outside and yell to her "I can't wait until you die!"
If that's not bad enough this fine gem of a woman went as far as to post pics on her Facebook of the little girl's dead mother in the arms of the Grim Reaper and the 7 year old herself with cross bones below her face. They even had a ratty pick up truck with tomb stones painted on it and a coffin attached to the back that they'd park in front of the victim's home to further taunt them. Or they'd pull up in it and rev the engine like 2 year olds. When asked why she did such a disgusting thing, her response was "personal satisfaction because it rubs their asses rawl"...ya she used the word "rawl". Jennifer, there is no "L" in the word "raw". Just saying...

This feud started when the victims family had a party at their house and those deflatable jumpy things were on the lawn with the kids playing on it. Jennifer Lynn Petkov text the family about her kids coming over to join the party. When the family didn't respond fast enough, to her highness Jennifer's text, she lost it and the harassment began resulting in a neighborhood feud and personal protection orders against the Petkovs. This woman shouldn't be allowed in society. Scott Petkov, the eunuch husband, admitted that his wife's "brutal honesty" has resulted in just about everyone hating them. Instead of stapling her lips shut, he allowed her to continue.
This story spread like wildfire across the globe in part because there were so many outraged people who began posting about Jennifer Lynn Petkov everywhere. I know of at least 3 Facebook pages made. I reactivated my FB account just to watch the gathering of angry citizens with their pitchforks and torches. Jennifer Lynn Petkov has got to be the most hated woman on the planet. These Facebook gatherers weren't just calling for justice...they wanted her head. Suddenly this story was popping up on news stations all over the world and in news papers. People from everywhere were gathering on FB in support of the little girl and her family while others were helping each other put on their executioner masks. When I signed off last night there was almost 5,000 people on that FB page alone

As you can see they apologized because the fallout of their actions. Their jobs were being contacted by furious people, their house was being egged, pizza delivery guys were showing up, one of their kids was sent home early from school, (yes the Petkovs have kids! Lord have mercy) they were receiving death threats, they had to disconnect their phones because their address and phone numbers was being slapped on every web page imaginable and child protective services showed up at their house!
Scott dismantled the coffin and laid it at the curb (which a guy took later and posted the pic of it on FB lol), put the truck in the back yard then slapped his wife for being an ignorant turd, shoved divorce papers down her throat and left a boot print on her back when he kicked her out into the feeding frenzy of an angry mob...no ....not really. Like the whipped girly man he is he tucked his tail between his legs and probably sat in the corner sucking his thumb trying to find a happy place
Now that everyone on the planet knows where they live I imagine they won't be living on Detroit Street much longer. What that woman did was so disgusting and disturbing...as someone so eloquently posted on FB "Jennifer, Satan called. You're embarrassing him". She wasn't sorry at all even when she apologized later. It wasn't sincere. She a cold, heartless sociopath who has been tormenting her neighbors and others
According to her own MySpace page she met Scott while she was married (I imagine her ex is probably counting his blessings right about now!) He walked into the room all dashing and handsome and presented her with a rose, told her how beautiful she was and in an unhappy marriage already Jennifer was wooed, comforted and saved by Prince Charming........WAIT. No that's not what happened. Scott was hammered in a bar, staggered into her, hugged her (probably to keep from falling over) and she was so captivated by his alcohol induced charm she divorced her husband and married Scott. If a dog had humped her leg she would have drug it to the altar too
Well I can report she's getting a heaping taste of her own medicine. That couple is now known all over the world. I hope she's enjoying her fame!The scary part is not only do the Petkov's have kids who will suffer because their parents are degenerate but I don't think Jennifer will change. She's not sorry and if someone isn't sorry for their actions then there's little hope for change. They'll move and when everything dies down in...let's say 10 years or so she'll be right back at it
On a brighter note because of the disgusting behavior of Jennifer Lynn Petkov a massive outpouring of support has risen for the little girl. There will be a rally at Haas Park on October 23rd

One minute you think everything's fine and the next everything changes and you're just reeling, trying to take it in, trying to think, to adjust but it's like being thrown off a cliff and reaching out for something to grab to stop the fall but no matter what you do you only speed up
In the last year I've changed a lot, I've grown up and I've gotten wiser. I learned those you thought you can trust you really can't. I learned people are just not always capable. I've learned some will even kick you when you're down. I've learned even more just how fragile we all are. I've learned that family really doesn't mean anything except physically. I've learned despite everything we do, all the plans we make, all the dreams we have, all that we are...we're nothing but a vapor. I've learned everyone goes whether willingly or not. No one is promised tomorrow. I've learned not to put so much stock and hope in people. They can't control their own breath or change a single hair on their head. Here today, gone tomorrow and so will be all our dreams and hopes
I've learned not to get comfortable because we never know when things will change. I've learned letting go is ok and sometimes needed. I've learned how to walk away. I've learned looking back isn't always a bad thing. I've learned being angry destroys. I've learned to appreciate everything we have and everyone right now because it won't last. I've learned many things are just not worth it. I've learned not to be so selfish. I've learned how important it is to say "I love you" and "I'm sorry" now because I may not get a chance later. I've learned to accept what I have no control over. I've learned I really have no control. I've learned how weak I really am. I've learned we always have far more to regret than appreciate when someone's gone
As I do this thing we call life on my own now I'm full of fear, uncertainty and confusion a lot. I've learned it's ok to need others and it's ok to be scared. I've learned to forgive. Most importantly I've learned we're never really alone...
The Guilt of Sodom
Much later after Genesis in the Book of Ezekiel God addresses Sodom and the guilt God found in it. Homosexuality isn't mentioned...
"Behold, this was the guilt of your sister Sodom: she and her daughters had pride, excess of food, and prosperous ease, but did not aid the poor and needy." Ezekiel 16:49
Even later than Ezekiel in the Book of Romans it's clear that the living conditions in Sodom and Gomorra, when they were destroyed, were the result of judgment just as it is for any other people. Not the final judgment that resulted in destruction, but the judgment of being given over to the life they insisted on and the end that form of judgment brought.
"For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.
For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Claiming to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things. Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen. For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions.
For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error. And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done. They were filled with all manner of unrighteousness, evil, covetousness, malice. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, maliciousness. They are gossips, slanderers, haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless. Though they know God's decree that those who practice such things deserve to die, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them. Romans 1:18-32
"He gave them up, He gave them up, He gave them up". 3 times this is repeated in Romans...3 times signifying the finality of it and the great emphasis of the judgment. God gave up Sodom and Gomorrah just as He does with everyone who refuses to acknowledge the truth, who refuses to acknowledge Him and insist on continuing in their own futile thinking and lifestyle.
Sodom and Gomorrah were rich cities. The people were comfortable, they had plenty of everything with excess, they became proud and wise in their own eyes because of their riches, prosperity and ease and the result was extreme selfishness and depravity. They traded truth for a lie with idolatry. They didn't care about anyone else or anything else. They didn't care about righteousness, justice or taking care of those less fortunate. They only cared about themselves. This alone is grievously sinful and enough to stir God's wrath.
Wealth creates boredom. When you have enough money to do pretty much whatever you want where ever you want where's the excitement? The wealthy become bored fast. They'd seen it all and they'd done it all. People having excess, nothing "does it" for them anymore so they turn to the most lude, vicious acts to get some thrill and break the boredom of their plentiful lifestyle no matter who it hurts or destroys. The result always ends in behavior and actions that person never dreamed they'd find themselves in. Soon the usual trip around the world, or the usual parties, or the usual shopping sprees, or the usual relationships are just not fun and that person begins looking for something else. So they began a depraved lifestyle and weren't ashamed of their behavior nor did they repent. The homosexuality was a result of the excess and mountain of sin. The homosexuality was a result of already being debased and God giving them up to their depravity. It was the bottom of the barrel...the level they sank too. It was the last straw for God that brought destruction.
He allowed them to fill up their cup of wrath. He no longer restrained them with grace. Once the grace was removed...they went nuts and paid the penalty. The Bible has a lot to say about wealth and very rarely is it ever anything good. Sodom and Gomorrah were not exceptions...they are glaring examples of the norm.What ought we to expect in our own country?
