Rather than taking our problems to God as the Bible instructs and dying to "self", we become self-focused, take our problems to a psychiatrist or psychologist and down pills to feel better. Rather than being transformed by Scripture and God in renewing our minds (Romans 12:2), the very seat of most of these problems, we conform to the patterns of the world and run after a quick fix. Paul wrote to churches! That's the key and thank you for pointing it out. We are NOT to judge those outside the church. I judge, not based on momentary motives or mometary actions because we're all sinners and make mistakes. I judge on fruit which clearly reflects what is truly in a person's heart, your heart, my heart, etc,. You're supposed to judge fruit, I'm supposed to, we're all supposed to. Please show me in scripture where judging in wrong. It's wrong ONLY when it's judging those outside the church and hypocritical judging. I absolutely judge myself constantly and am constantly repenting of my own sin because I take my own sin very seriously. If I don't, then that will reflect on what is really inside me, would it not?
Please point out Scripturally where we are only supposed to go on what we see in the moment and what a person says rather than what they do, what they teach and how they live. Talk is cheap. Actions speak louder than words. You call me legalistic and I expect that, but was it not the Pharisees who were white washed tombs and burdened everyone with laws they themselves refused to follow? Was it not the Pharisees who were very popular with the masses? Was it not the Pharisees that controled the crowds, called for the crucifixtion of Christ and persecuted the Apostles? Why were so many Prophets put to death? Why were most of the Apostles murdered? Why was Christ crucified? Because they were wrong?
Or because they had a great message that in order to come to the full measure of that message the truth had to be told? No one likes to hear the truth. Truth is always unpopular. We all hide from Truth. But it's necessary. It's always necessary. I didn't come to a saving knowledge of Christ from Islam because Christianity or some popular teacher made me feel good about myself. I came to Christ ( and I assume you did as well) realizing how depraved and sinful I was, on my way to hell and in need of a Savior. Did I feel good in those moments? Absolutely not! That time was the worst I've ever felt and the worst I've ever faced when confronted with the truth, but it was necessary to bring me, you and everyone else into a saving knowledge and saving relationship with Christ. Don't parrot what you've been taught from some teacher you happen to like. Please, throw out those workbooks and DVDs and read only the Bible. God bless...
I suffered with major depression and psychosis most of my life until I got saved and learnt the truth in the bible about human condition and putting God in a right perspective. when my knowlege increased my depression disappeared. I'm 4 yrs & 7 mnts off prozac!!! when the old monster comes calling I call on God!!
